Baga Beach

Baga is a small beach located between its two more famous cousins, Colva on one side and Calangute on the other. Baga beach and Calangute beach are situated close to each other. So if you are planning a beach trip to Baga, then you get to enjoy both the beaches in Goa. Baga beach is connected to Calangute beach by a 3km long road. This road is lined with hotels and guesthouses that offer the tourists a comfortable stay.

Baga is a fishing beach with brown sand that sees a lot of tourists across the world trying to get that big catch and others sun-bathing in its golden sun, as a grove of palms gently sways in the wind. Backwater crocodile and dolphin spotting down the Mandovi River to the Zuari River is a favorite pastime for the travelers at the Baga beach. The thickly forested banks of these rivers are rife with mangrove trees and inhabited by crocodiles in the swampy regions. Dolphins can be spotted at the mouth of the Mandovi River.The beach also has many beach shacks and beach huts that sell delicious Goan food and thirst-quenching Feni.

Medicinal Springs
The narrow road leading past the Bom Viagem Convent along the cashew-covered foothills, leads to the springs at Mottant. This is an ideal spot for picnics and bathing, as the water is believed to be medicinal.

Kerkar Art Complex
The Kerkar Art Complex, is the one and only of its kind on this beach. It is a popular center for exhibitions of arts and crafts of local artistes. On Thursdays and Fridays, connoisseurs of Indian classical music and dance can be an audience to various concerts.

» By Air: The nearest airport is at Dabolim, which is 29 km away from Panaji. Panaji is just half an hour's drive away from Calangute.

» By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Karmali 11 km away from Panaji

» By Road: Goa Baga beach is about ten minutes from Mapusa, and thirty minutes from the state capital, Panaji. There are frequent buses to Panaji and Mapusa from Baga and Calangute. Most buses from Panaji terminate at Calangute and a few trudge further on up to Baga.

Weather Update:
Goa has a steady climate with little change throughout the year. December and January are slightly cool and you may require a light jacket. April and May are the warmest months. There are periods of heavy rain from June to October. The temperature during the summers ranges from 75°F/24°C to 92°F/33°C and during the winters it ranges from 70°F/21°C to 90°F/32°C.
