Location:
Along the 600 kilometre length of the Kerala coast, lies an internationally
renowned beach,Kovalam. Kovalam consists of three successive small crescent
beaches. Kovalam beach is a strip of golden sand lying side by side between
the serene blue waters of the Arabian sea and the rich greenery of coconut
palms. The beach has been a favorite haunt of tourists, especially
Europeans, since the 1930s. The Kovalam Beach which is in Kerala is 16 Km
from the capital city of Kerala-Thiruvanathapuram City.

Fine Blend Of Sun, Sand And Salt Water- Kovalam:

The crescent-shaped beaches of Kovalam can be divided in three parts. The
southern most beach, and the most popular, is the Lighthouse Beach. Further
south on the beach one can have a spectacular view of the Vizhinzam mosque.
Photography is prohibited here. The middle beach is called Hawah. Each
morning this beach acts as a base for the local fisherman. The northern most
beach, Samudra, is least affected of all by the changing times.

November to February is the best time to visit this beach. One can spend 2
days and get rejuvenated amidst the golden sand and calm waters of Kovalam.

There are numerous craft and carpet shops that present you a diverse array
of Tibetan, Kashmiri and Rajasthani artifacts. Besides clothing stores and
general stores, there are yoga schools, and massage parlours lining the

Climate In Kerala:
» Winter The winter season sets in during the month of December
and continues till end of February. During this season comparatively there
is less rainfall especially in the northern parts of the state.
» Summer Winter is followed by the summer season. Its tarts in
February and continues till May. Temperature is very high during this
period. Occasional showers with Lightning is a characteristic of this
season. Kottayam receives the highest rainfall during this season.
