The Dance Form of Lavani
Legends like Raja Bhoj, Kanjar gorl, and the tale of balabau is sung
with frevour. There are love songs about Naik Banjara and the Ranubai,
which have a much softer tones than the other musical compositions of
Lavani.Traditionally the songs are sung by female singers. Male singers
have a occassional presence.The dance form associated with Lavani is
known as Tamasha.
Musical Instruments in Lavani
Dholak - The big drums which resound with the sounds of loud
thumps. There aren't many instruments used in Lavani.
Major instrument is the Dholak. The main emphasis is on Song and dance
steps.
