Shillong - The Scotland of India. It's a place of heavenly beauty and truly
has a serenity of heaven. The picturesque landscape of Shillong is sure to
take ones breath away. The greenery, the sylvan forest, the enchanting
beauty of the hills, and the quaint pace of life of the people there seems
to transport the visitor to another place far away from the fast pace life
of the city.
I would suggest a visit to this beautiful city to any traveler not only
because of the beautiful landscape but also because of the hospitable nature
of the people here. The hospitality of the people was so avid once I reached
Gangtok. And
then there were so many places to see in Gangtok like the Nathu La Pass,
Tosmgo Lake and the Mountanieering Institiute. It is fascinating to come to
know the diverse tribes that co-exist here, their different cultures and way
of living. Indeed Shillong and Gangtok has taken a lot from neighbouring
countries like
Nepal and
Bhutan in the way of Culture.
The vibrancy and vigor of their life is reflected in their extremely created
handiwork of various kinds. My Visit to Shillong was truly a memorable one
filled with wonderful memories.
As I was watching all this pristine beauty, my heart was making plans to
see other Hill Stations like
Darjeeling,
the Himalayan Toy Train there, Tiger Hill and the Ghoom Buddhist Monastry.
But then
Munnar,
Ooty
and
Kodaikanal
didin't seem to be far away.
