Falling at a height of 1017 ft, the Dudhasagar Falls become one of the most
powerful falls in the Monsoon Season. The main watercourse of the Dudhsagar
Falls is the Mandovi river. Dudhsagar Falls are located in Ponda Village of
Goa. This tiered waterfall is listed as Indias 5th tallest fall, 227th in
the world. It is also a major part of Goas Ecosystem.
Dudhsagar Fall is so called because of the appearance of the water. From a
distance it looks like as if Milk is flowing through the forest of Goa. A
bus, a train or a
Safari Jeep can
take you near the Falls. Safari Jeeps are the best.
Enroute to Dudhsagar Falls there aren't ant stoppages, the roads can be
rough and there is a National Park in the middle of the route. Its a good
idea to stay in the
National Park
for 2 3 days. From the National Park one can easily reach the
Dudhsagar Falls and stay there for a couple of hours. The National Park
provides all the facilities for a pleasant stay. The National Park is known
as Molem National Park housing a number of Tigers and Leopards.
Dudhsagar Falls are supposed to be the most impressive falls of Goa. The
falls crisscross a number of streams and drop down a few pools. These pools
are a perfect place to swim in. Some of the activities which one can do
around the Dudhsagar Falls are climbing, waterfall cascading, shooting (
taking natural pictures).
Trekking
and Shooting animals and birds are not allowed. Night Stay around the Falls
are not permitted.
