Jodhpur, is the second largest city
of Rajasthan and earlier was the capital of the Marwar state. The city is
dominated by indigo-coloured houses in the old town and is sometimes fondly
referred as the ' Blue City'. The colossal Mehrangarh fort reigns the city.

» Mehrangarh Fort: Located at the very centre of the city,
Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India. Over a 125m high hill
this is one of Rajasthan's three great hilltop forts. The fort houses the
Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana that are
worth a visit.
Clock Tower and Sardar Market: A popular attraction of the city, is
the Clock Tower and the colourful Sardar Market. This place witnesses the
hustle and bustle of daily bazaar in its narrow alleys.
Climate Of Jodhpur:
Jodhpur is situated at the edge of the Thar Desert. It has a typical
desert climate i.e. dry and hot. The ideal time to visit this place is
the period between November and March.
Shopping Points:
The place is a delightful treasure for shoppers. The city is famous for
bandhani and lahariya, block printed textiles that can be brought from
the Kapra Bazaar. The Mochi Bazaar is renowned for embroidered Jutti
(footwear). Carpets and durries can be found on the Umaid Bhawan Palace
road. Silver jewellery, antique furniture, wood and metal handicrafts
are the other specialities of the place that can be bought.
