The Garden
Covering an area of 40 acres, the Lloyds Botanical Garden has the most
beautiful Alpine and Himalayan Flowers ever seen. It has a number of
sections like the Cacti house, a small library, students garden and the
medicinal garden. All the sections have their own cultivations and
subjects.
The beauty of the garden is increased by the Himalayan range which runs
at the background forming beautiful layers. The whole line of the
Himalayan range changes its colors with the changing weather of
Darjeeling. The landscape beauty of the Lloyds Botanical Garden is
beyond words.
The vast sprawl of the Lloyds Botanical Garden has a number of sections
to explore:
»Rock Garden : Many Alpine and Sub Alpine plants grow in
this Rock Garden. These are rare plants as they are not found anywhere
else. This garden is also known as Sir John Anderson garden.
» Orchid House : This Glass House houses more then 60
species of Orchids representing various terrestrial and epiphybic
species.
» Herebarium : Built in Elizebathian style, this stone
building has 3230 species of various plants, saplings and flowers.
» Living Fossil Plants : Dawn Red Wood or the Met sequoia
glyptostroboides is the name given to this living fossil plant. The
family of these three plants is known as Phantom Tree.

» Tiger Hills : It is the Sun rise point from where you can
have the exbhorating view of the Rising Sun.

- Known as one of the most beautiful Hill Stations
of India, Darjeeling has all the attractions of a hilly area. Being
quite developed, it has all that is required for travel.
- Winter season is the best time to visit
Darjeeling. But then the months of February to April End are the
best to relax and enjoy.
- There is no need to carry any extra baggage, as
the Darjeeling City has all that is required.
- Ghoom, Darjeeling Toy Train, Batasia Loop,
Mountaineering Institute, Monasteries, The Mall, Observatory Hill,
Chowrasta, Darjeeling Ranjeet Valley Passanger Ropeway - there is a
lot one can see here. Trekking and Mountaineering are the two main
