Aizawl at its best
Where and Why You can book a ticket on the Alliance Air which flies three days a week - Calcutta - Aizawl - Imphal - Aizawl. (Monday - Wesnesday - Friday). (Check it out as the airlines and the timings differ from season to season). Your guide will be at the airport to show you the way to the pre booked hotel . Hotel Chief is a good choice if you like so. Its multi cuisine restaurant is famous for its cusines. Have a heafty breakfast of the hotel. Usually its the perfected breakfast of jam, eggs, butter, sandwitches, fruits and juice with tea and coffee as compliment which makes up for the breakfast. After having your fill sit in the hotel cab along with your tour guide to explore the hilly bounty. The first place in Aizawl you can reach is the Chaltlang; highest point in the city, standing at a height of 3,713ft . Near to this place is the Tlangnuam; another place with the height. Standing here you can see the entire city of Aizawl with lush greenery and the clouds passing by. As you wave to the clouds, take out your camera to have some wonderful exquisite photographs. If you are in the spring season here then take a chance to see the Chapchar Kut festival in the AR Grounds. Click your camera at flashing light speed till the festival is over (and yes the roll too!). (Other festival are there like the Mim Kut (maize harvest in Aug - Sep) and Pawl Kut (post harvest in Dec-Jan). The dress, the music, the beautiful colors and the bright plnk faced ladies; all add to the charm of the dance and music festival. For a moment you will loose yourself in this extravaganza. In the afternoon have lunch at one of the llocal hotels in the open greenery amongst the mountains. Food in Aizawl is expensive; even than try out some pastries at the famous Glenary's and trying the Chinese at Basalica. And then there was one thing left to do. Shopping ! Typical iptichei bags, traditional puanchei wraparounds and small purses are some of the things you can load youself with. It great to do shopping here, do try yourself! Around the time to get back to the hotel sit in the cab and move towards the the famous Dhaba Resturant; so famous for its tandoori! And when you are visiting Aizwal, I suggest at least two days stay at the place so that you can also visit the nearby beautiful places like Tamdil lake(about 85 kms from Aizawl) and Faalkwan (about 18kms ).
