Through The Pages Of History.....
At an altitude of 2000 meters and 34 km beyond Dehradun, Mussoorie came into existence in the 1820s when the families of British colonials reached out to the hills in order to escape the scorching heat of the plains. It was 'discovered' in 1823 by Captain Young and since then it has been a popular hill station Mussoorie's name is derieved from the Mansur shrub (Cororiana nepalensis), common in the Himalayan foothills.

Mesmerizing Mussoorie:
Commanding a wonderful view of Himalayan snow ranges to north-east, and glittering views of Doon Valley, Roorkee, Saharanpur and Haridwar to south, the town presents a fairyland atmosphere to the tourists. The place offers some breathtaking views that has become the main attraction for tourists.

The nerve - centre of mussoorie, faces Dehradun, and distant snowclad peaks can be spotted from the summit of Gun Hill, 2142 m above sea level. A 400 m ' Ropeway' cable - car ride links Gun Hill with the Mall.
Kempty Falls
Kempty Falls:
15 km from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road having an altitude of 4,500 ft. It has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley.

Bhatta Falls
» Childers Lodge: The highest vantage point in the vicinity, 5 km east of the Mall.

» Others: The Mossey Falls, (6 kms), and the Bhatta Falls (12 kms) are the other places worth seeing around mussoorie. On the Tehri road, is Dhanoulti, a picturesque spot, beyond which is the Sukhanda Devi temple, perched at an altitude of 3021 m, the highest point in the outlying area. Mussoorie Lake, Clouds End, Municipal Garden are other places that are worth a visit.

There is a spectral range of imported goods and Tibetan metal ware, books, antiques, hand-carved walking sticks, cane baskets, embroidered wall hangings, dry pinecones, hill jewelry, garments, knick-knacks and curios suiting the variegated need of the customer.

» Airway: Nearest airport is Jolly Grant at Dehradun,which is 24 km away.
» Railway: Nearest railhead is Dehradun (35 Km), which is connected to Delhi, Varanasi, Howrah, Amritsar, Saharanpur, Rishikesh and Haridwar For transport to Mussoorie taxies and buses are available outside the Railway Station.
» Roadway: Mussoorie is connected by regular bus services to all the major centres of tourist interest in the region. Direct buses are available for Barkot (89 km), Srinagar, Garhwal (135 km), Hanuman Chatti (129 km), Saharanpur (110 Km), Dehradun (35 km), Nainital (355 km), Tehri (75 km) and Delhi (290 km).
