while on a boat. The park also boasts of some rare species of bird that
frequent Periyar, these include the Ceylon frog-mouth, rose billed
roller, the Giant Hornbill, Cormorant, Darter, Osprey and Racket-tailed
Drongo. |

Tips:Guided jungle walks are available and depart early in the morning. For walks further into the park guides can be arranged from the wildlife information center. Trekking can also be done inside the park. Elephant-back rides are available for wildlife viewing around the park. There are spice gardens nearby and tours are regularly organized. Climate: The temperature during summers (April-June) ranges from 21°C to 24°C. During the monsoon (July-August), it ranges from 19°C to 21°C. Winter season lasts from October to March and is cool and pleasant. The best period to visit the place would be November-April. Wheels To Periyar:
