The vibes of the people of Delhi can be seen in its Bazars. One such Bazar is the Chandni Chowk Bazar. Made by the beloved Daughter of Shahjahan, Jahanara, Chandni Chowk was famed for the beauty of the Moonlight light which lightened the Market in the night. Many of the untold love stories unfolded in the light of the Chandni Chowk.

Delhi, the Capital of India has many markets, each unique for its own trademarks. Chandni Chowk is famous for its fashion clothes and accessories, jewellery, souveniers and the ever fonded street food.. Though Chandni Chowk has lost its charm and inspiration as a Mughal Market, still there are reminences of the past which make their place like anything. Chandni Chowk is also famous for its Hand Driven Rickshaws and Rickshaw Rides. Somewhat different from a Horse Ride, the Rickshaws are a major attraction of the Chandni Chowk.

Chandni Chowk is also the only place in the town which has all religious place of all the major four religions of India. With the GuruDwara Sahib of Sikhs, Gauri Shankar Temple of Hindus, Jama Masjid of Muslims, the Church of Christians and Shri Digambar Jain Lal Temple of Jainism; Chandni Chowk becomes the highest place of the relevance to all.


Location : Chandni Chowk is located near Dariyaganj of the Old Delhi. As you reach this part of the Old Delhi, you can move to the Chandni Chowk Market area by taking a Rickshaw. As you move on the thin roads of Chandni Chowk, don't forget to take the flavous of Chaat ( Indian Dish) along with you.

    Walking in any of the Cloth shops of the Chandni Chowk, will take you in a range of colorful chaniya cholis or ghaghra chunris. Embroided, glazed in colorful brades, these are bound to attract anyone. Starting with a range of Rs 5000/- per piece, these are the nominal price for a Ghaghra Chunri Dress. For the sarees to there is a wide range - silk and cottons, chiffon and jorget all can be found here. Apart from these, there are the Silver Jewellery, semi precious stones which are on a dispaly here to be sold.

    Jama Masjid- One of the most beautiful Mosques in India, its a must see for all those who visit Chandni Chowk. There are very less chances that you will be able to see it in the Id Ul Fitur time, but in the rest of the time, you will be able to visit it.

  • Bargaining is the best thing in Chandni Chowk to do. The best of the Indian Dresses are made and sold here.
  • Its best to buy the Traditional Indian things from here, as whatever is made here goes to the Big Showrooms in South Extension and Connaught Place Market and is sold at exhorbiant price. So its better to buy from here as you also get a full variety and range of things here.
  • Its better to walk or to take a rickshaw in Chandni Chowk. As the roads are lean here, the cabs are of no use.
  • Festive time like Deepawali and New Year are the best time to shop. A lot of discounts and offers come in this time of the year.
  • Chandni Chowk is also famous for its street food. Foods like Chaat ( a mix of potatoes, deep fried with lots of Indian Spices and Sauces), Sharbats ( Indian Juices) and Kebabas are the popular ones.
  • The Traditional Dress of India - Ghaghra and Choli are best found in Chandni Chowk.
  • Money Converters can be easliy found in Delhi City. However, its difficult to find them in Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi. However, you may find one or two Brances of Western Union in the corners or else you can go to Bamk of India and State Bank of India for Money Conversion.
  • While you are going for a ride to Chandni Chowk, don't bring along your expensive or important things. There is lot of husle and bustle in the Chandni Chowk, so its better to keep the valueables in the Hotels Locker. Beware of Thugs !
  • Make a chioce of your own as far as food is considered. Mostly the food is good in most of the restaurants; still having food in your hotel is the best as the prices are reasonable there. All sorts of food - Indian, Chinese, Mexican can be found in the Good Hotels of the city.
