Prince Of Wales Museum

Set up in the 20th century it has been recently renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajah Museum. It was built to commemorate the arrival of the Prince of Whales by some prominent citizens with the help of Indian Govt. Lying near the Gate of India it tells the tale of the era gone by.

After the Victoria Terminal, it is the main catcher of the happening city of Mumbai.

Miniature Paintings
There is a collection of about 200 miniature paintings exhibited here. It houses the best of the Indian Miniatures. Among the best are the Laur Chandra (1550-1570) and the Mewar Ramayana (1649).

»Artifacts : It showcases the artifacts ranging from the Indus Valley (first human civilization), relics from the ages old India and the Gupta (A king ) time period.

»Arms Gallery : There is a beautiful and attractive collection of the arms of the various eras. The main ones are the armours of Allaudin Khiljis Khandana (an Armour passed on from one generation to another as a mark of respect) and Akbar s Cuirass.

»Nepal - Tibet Gallery : This one is a must see. It has a beautiful collection of religious and artistic sculptures. There is the art showing the Tantric Buddhism and the image of Sron-Tsan- Gampo (16th century).

»Of Bronze and Textile : There are these statues of Bronze lie the Dancing Balkrishna (Childhood form of Lord Krishna) of Chola Kingdom and textiles from various parts of India lie the Bandhani of Rajasthan (19th century).

»Gateway Of India : Situated at Shivaji Marg in 1911, it was built to commemorate the arrival of King George V. Made of Basalt it is one of the most awesome structures of India visited by lakhs of visitors every year. One can go for horse rides and boating here. It is the same place which also takes you to the Elephanta Caves - The World Heritage Site, just 10kms away, via boat.

»Kneesseth Eliyahod Synagogue : It is one of the two famously built synagogues, it has bright blue exterior and stained glass interior which makes it look fabulous.

»Colaba Cosawa Market Place: It is one of the most happening market in Mumbai to do the Shopping. From western clothes to artificial Indian Jewelery and the sliver one it has all one can ask for. Have your lunch here with the Mumbaia Thali (A platter filled with Mumbai Delicacies) and sip coffee at the oldest Coffee Shop of Mumbai.
