After the partition the wildlife population of India was slowly decreasing and there were fears that many species of wildlife were becoming extinct due to hunting. In the early seventies the government took a serious note of the situation and number of actions were taken to curb the situation. These included setting up of a number of national Parks and Wildlife sanctuaries, prohibiting hunting in the wild and special projects such as the Project Tiger. This tour takes you on a journey through some of the best wild life parks of the country showcasing the Tiger in its natural habitat.

It is very rich in flora, largely due to the combination of landforms and soil types, apart from the moist character of the region. The rich habitat diversity of the Reserve supports a wide range of wildlife species along with innumerable lesser life forms, and is the sanctum sanctorum of many typical Central Indian fauna. Besides harbouring a viable population of the tiger, Kanha has distinguished itself in saving the endangered hard ground barasingha from extinction, and supporting the last world population of this deer species.
