Like India is famous for its vibrancy and colors so are its range of apparel. Like the culture of India, Indian clothing is popular for its for its colorfulness and grace. India has been known to have wonderful dresses and costumes. Though the majority of Indian women wear traditional costumes. Outfits for women such as the sari bring out the essence of feminism. Mens clothes are suitable for the warm climate and comfort. the men in India can be found in more conventional western clothing. There are various materials used like cotton, synthetic. Women's Traditional Clothing :
» Sari: A sari is a rectangular piece of cloth which is five to six yards in length. The style, color and texture of this cloth varies and it might be made from cotton, silk or any other. There are various methods of wearing the sari. However, the most common method is wrapping the cloth around the waist, making pleats in the front and draping the final length around the shoulder. The sari reveals the womans midriff and belly button and is worn with a choli. A choli is a tightly fitted, short blouse. Sari Iaccentuates the woman’s personality and is a common attire at ceremonies at festivals.

Ghahgra Choli
Ghahgra choli:
The ghagra resembles a skirt with sewn-in pleats secured at the waist with the length up to the ankles. This is again made of cotton, silk or synthetic. This is worn with a well fitted blouse known as choli.

Salwar Kaeez
Salwar-kameez:
A salwar is a flaired pyjama that falls at the ankles and is drawn tightly in at the waist with a string. While the kameez is a long tailored outfit, which resembles a long shirt.



Indian SariMen’s Traditional Clothing:
» The Sherwani: a coat like garment, worn by men, fitted close to the body, of knee-length or longer and opening in front with button-fastenings. Below the men wear a garment for the lower part of the body, baggy and wide at the top tied with a string at the waist , and tight around the legs and ankles. It is avery elegant dress for the men and mostly worn during ceremonies.

» The Kurta-Pyjama: The Kurta or the top is a knee length colarless shirt which is adorned inmostly white or pastel colors. But today you will find Kurtas made out of the most wonderful and colorful of fabrics. Pyjama-are like loose trousers with a string tie at the waist. Traditionally white in color.

» Lungi: The lungi is a rectangle cloth, usually made of cotton, draped around the waist and pleated in the front at the groin. This resembles a sarong.
