Its a place of ultimate luxury, terracotta floors, colorful painted
walls, comfortable rooms with wooden beds and sofas, silken linen, Hot
and cold water, beautiful scenery and the most exotic surroundings. Here
you can hear what seems impossible in cities - the chirping of birds and
the humming of the bee. Beautiful flowers and trees become your
companion and the sounds of thousands of birds become your morning call
once you are here in this heavenly adobe. To keep up with the
surroundings there are no Air Conditioners. The rooms are teracotta
fitted, spacious with wooden beds and chairs. The walls are whitewashed.
To add to it is the cuisine - the mouth watering South Indian Dishes -
like Appa,
Uttapam, Sambar with
hot peeping rice - its all there. Continental and Chinese is also

The BACK DOORS of the Spice Village Resort open its gates to a small
Village called Kumily. Just 4 kms from Kumily there is Periyar Wildlife
Sanctuary. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is the home to a number of Tigers.
You are bound to see them here. The only problem is that you cannot kids
here. In addition to tigers one can find Indian Elephants, Gaur, Sambar,
Barking Deer, langur, Bonnet Macquae. There is a lake in side the
Sanctuary where boating can be done. From this lake one can reach ages
old Temple of Goddess which can make for a nice little excursion.
Surrounding an area of 777 acres, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary has
mixed grassland vegetation. Including this there are various birds like
Sambar, Gaur, flying bats, flying squirrels, flying snakes (harmless,
really), and over a 143 species of Orchids. So there is a lot you can
see here.
Including this there is a small yet spacious Tiffin Room which serves
snacks the entire day to tackle with the hunger pangs of kids and elders
alike. The rosewood chairs and tables here are restored antiques from a
100 year old restaurant. There are also Cookery Classes where you can
learn how to cook some of the Special South Indian Dishes at no cost !
